Three years ago, when I was 26 and hadn’t started any form of weight training, I weighed 130lbs.
I was too embarrassed to take any shirtless photos of myself, but I looked something like this guy
It was that time in my life when I was in a nightclub, talking to a girl, and all of a sudden she said to me “Oh my! Your arms are smaller than mine, that’s so cute!”
For me, that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
It was that point when I thought to myself “enough is enough”. So I began a weight training regime and over time I bought all the conventional supplements I could find – natural testosterone boosters, mass gainers, whey protein and creatine and BCAAs.
I did gain a bit of size, but my progress was slow. And by slow I mean, V….E…R…Y S…L…O…W.
I was still in awe of guys who had that jacked physique with muscle-bursting pumps, and who somehow gave off the aura that they were gods in the bedroom, especially middle-aged guys like the man below.
Looking like the guy above is no easy feat, I know. But it felt as though the harder I trained, and the more time I spent in the gym, the more my results would plateau.
I felt really jealous and insecure when I saw all the other men around me who looked like the guy above, while barely training half as hard as I did.
What made things worse is when I would see huge guys on Instagram posting pictures of themselves with 6-pack abs, saying things like “Yeah man, results of my 6-month bulk! #jacked”.
And I’d think to myself “What the?! I’m barely seeing results after 3 years and this guy is already looking like that after 6 months!?”
I mean not all of us have the time to make sure every aspect of our lives are in order.
Finding time every day to sit down and go through our checklist:
Six meals cooked for the day ✔ CHECK
Gym/sports workout ✔ CHECK
Taken supplements for the week ✔ CHECK
Meditated to relieve stress ✔ CHECK
Received a sports massage for recovery ✔ CHECK
Slept at least 8 hours ✔ CHECK
All of that, plus our hobbies and our other daily work and social commitments?!
It’s hard enough just finding time in the day to train!
THE RESULT: You give up.
I thought maybe it was their genetics, or perhaps they were using steroids or something.
It was then that I finally realised that steroids, and training harder wasn’t the answer – I just needed to adapt my lifestyle habits and to train smarter!
About a year ago I started experimenting with natural testosterone boosters.
